மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு எதிரான பொய் பிரச்சாரங்கள் தொடர்பில் விழிப்பாயிருங்கள்

கடந்த புதன்கிழமை, ஒக்டோபர் 2, 2019 அன்று, எமது வைத்தியசாலையில் இடம்பெற்ற சாப்பேறு (Still Birth) தொடர்பில் சில ஊடகங்களிலும் சமூக வலைத்தளங்களிலும் உண்மைக்கு புறம்பான விதத்தில், மட்டு போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்கும் அதன் ஊழியர்களுக்கும் அபகீர்த்தியையும், வைத்தியசாலை நிருவாகத்திக்கு மிகுந்த அசௌகரியத்தையும், சாதாரண பாமரமக்களுக்கு வைத்தியசேவையை பெறுவதில் அபரிமிதமான அச்ச உணர்வையும் பீதியையும் ஏற்படுத்தும் நோக்குடன், சிலரால் திட்டமிடப்பட்ட விதத்தில் பொய் பிரசாரங்கள் முன்னெடுத்து செல்லப்படுவது குறித்து மிகவும் வேதனையடைகின்றோம். எனவே, இது தொடர்பில் உண்மையான தகவல்களை பொதுமக்களுக்களுக்கு வழங்குவதற்கும், அவர்கள் தமது சேவைகளை தடையில்லாது பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும் சூழலை தொடர்ந்து பேணுவதற்கும் தார்மீக ரீதியில் நாம் கடமைப்பட்டுள்ளோம்.

மட்டக்களப்பு திராய்மடுவில் வசிக்கும் கர்ப்பிணித்தாயொருவர் தனது முதலாவது பிரசவத்துக்காக செப்டெம்பர் 28 ஆம் திகதி வைத்தியசாலைக்கு அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு, சுகப்பிரசவத்துக்கான ஏதுநிலைகள் காணப்பட்டதால், ஒக்டோபர் 2 ஆம் திகதி அதிகாலை மட்டு போதனா வைத்தியசாலையின் பிரசவ அறைக்கு சுகப்பிரசவத்தூண்டலுக்காக அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தார். பிரசவ அறையில் பொறுப்பு வைத்தியர்கள், தாதியர்கள் மற்றும் மருத்துவமாதுக்கள் ஆகியோரின் நேரடி கண்காணிப்பின் கீழ் சுகப்பிரசவத்துக்கு உட்பட்டிருந்தார். இதன் போது தாயினதும் சிசுவினதும் ஆரோக்கியமான நிலைமை தொடர்ச்சியாக அவதானிக்கப்பட்டதுடன் அறுவைச்சிகிச்சை அல்லது கருவிகள் பயன்படுத்தி பிரசவிக்க வேண்டிய எந்தவொரு சூழ்நிலையும் ஏற்படவில்லை. இந்நிலையில் தூரதிஷ்டவசமாக, முற்றுமுழுதான சுகப்பிரசவத்தில் பிரசவித்த அந்த சிசு இறந்து பிறந்தமை (சாப்பேறு) கண்டறியப்பட்டது. அதனைத்தொடர்ந்து மகப்பேற்று வைத்திய நிபுணர் தலைமையிலான குழு சிசுவையும் தாயையும் பார்வையிட்டு தாய் தந்தை இருவருக்கும் பிரசவம் தொடர்பில் விளக்கத்தை தெரிவித்திருந்ததுடன் சாப்பேறுக்கான காரணம் தொடர்பில் சிசுவின் உடற்கூற்றியல் பரிசோதனை நடத்தப்பட வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தையும் தெளிவுபடுத்தியிருந்தனர்.

அதனைத்தொடர்ந்து வைத்தியசாலையினுள் அடாவடியாக உள்நுழைந்த கும்பலொன்று வைத்தியசாலை ஊழியர்களை அச்சுறுத்தி வைத்தியசாலை சொத்துக்களுக்கும் சேதம் ஏற்படும் விதமாக நடந்து கொண்டதுடன், மகப்பேற்று விடுதியிலும் பிரசவ அறையிலும் இருந்த ஏனைய தாய்மாருக்கும் அவர்களது பார்வையாளர்களுக்கும் அசௌகரியத்தையும் ஆபத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்தனர். இந்த அராஜக நடவடிக்கையானது வைத்தியசாலையின் நிருவாக பணிகளுக்கும் சேவை வழங்கலுக்கும் பாரிய இடையூறாக இருப்பது மட்டுமன்றி நாட்டின் சட்ட ஒழுங்குக்கும் நீதிக்கும் விடுக்கப்பட்ட மிகப்பெரும் சவாலாகும். இது தொடர்பில் மட்டக்களப்பு காவல்துறை நிலையத்தில் முறைப்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன், இந்த சாப்பேறு தொடர்பில் பெற்றோருக்கு சந்தேகம் நிலவுவதால் திணைக்கள ரீதியான உள்ளக விசாரணையும் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. குறித்த பெற்றாருக்கும் அவர்களது குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் எமது ஆழ்ந்த அனுதாபங்களை தெரிவிப்பதுடன், சாப்பேறு தொடர்பில் மேலதிக சில தரவுகளை பொதுமக்களுக்கு வழங்குவது அவர்களின் அச்ச உணர்வை போக்க உதவும் என நம்புகிறோம்.

சுகாதார அமைச்சின் குடும்ப சுகாதார பணியகத்தின் தரவுகளுக்கமைய, இந்த நாட்டில் வருடமொன்றுக்கு சராசரியாக 1700 சாப்பேறுகள் இடம்பெறுவதுடன் 35 வீதத்துக்கும் அதிகமானவற்றுக்கு இன்னும் காரணம் கண்டறியப்படவில்லை. அதிகமான இறப்புகளுக்கு பிறப்பு குறைபாடுகளே காரணமாக அமைந்துள்ளன. மேலும், 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான இலங்கையின் தேசிய சாப்பேறு வீதம் 6.1 (1000 பிறப்புகளுக்கு) ஆக இருக்கும் நிலையில் மாகாணத்தின் போதனா வைத்தியசாலையான மட்டக்களப்பு போதனா வைத்தியசாலையின் 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான சாப்பேறு வீதம் 5.98 (1000 பிறப்புகளுக்கு) ஆகும்.

எனவே, சிலரால் உண்மைக்குப் புறம்பாக உள்நோக்குடன் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் பிரச்சாரங்களை நம்ப வேண்டாம் என பொதுமக்களை வினயமாக வேண்டிக்கொள்வதுடன் மட்டு போதனா வைத்தியசாலை தொடர்ந்தும் தரமான மருத்துவ சேவையை மனித நேயத்துடன் வழங்கிவருகிறது என்பதை தெரிவித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

மேலும், இந்த அசாதாரண சூழ்நிலையை கையாளுவதற்காக எம்முடன் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயற்பட்ட மாண்புமிகு மட்டக்களப்பு மாநகர முதல்வருக்கும், மட்டக்களப்பு காவல்துறைக்கும், ஊடக தர்மத்துடன் செயற்பட்ட ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்கும் மாவட்ட ஊடக அதிகாரிக்கும் எமது நன்றிகளை தெரிவித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

Be watchful on misinformation and false propaganda against Teaching Hospital Batticaloa

Regarding the still birth incident happened in our hospital on last Wednesday, October 2nd 2019, certain media and social media sites were carrying out with false propaganda against Teaching Hospital Batticaloa in an untruly manner. We regret to note that certain individuals are behind this well-planned hateful publicity with the intention of defaming Teaching Hospital Batticaloa and it’s health staff, to discomfort the hospital administration and, to create extreme fear anxiety among ordinary innocent public of Batticaloa in receiving health service from the hospital. Therefore, it’s our duty to respond with true information to the general public in order to maintain the peaceful environment to obtain their health services.

A pregnant mother from Thiraimadu, Batticaloa, was admitted to hospital on September 28th for the delivery of her first child. Her medical status was perfectly satisfactory to proceed with normal vaginal delivery and she was sent to labour room on October 2nd early morning for the usual procedure of induction of normal labour. Her progression of the labour was directly observed by the relevant doctors, nurses and midwives. During the process of labour it was observed both mother and baby were in healthy status and under no circumstances Caesarean or instrumental delivery was indicated. But unfortunately at the time of normal vaginal delivery it was noted that it was a still birth. Following this grief incident obstetric team headed by the Consultant Obstetrician examined both mother and still birth baby and explained both parents regarding the nature of still birth and the need for pathological post-mortem examination to identify the cause.

After a short while, a group of unknown entered the hospital in an unlawful manner, threatened the health staff, caused damages to hospital properties and paved a great threat to other labouring mothers and their visitors. We consider this belligerent incident as a great threat not only to administrative and health services of the hospital but also a challenge to law and order of the state and, the judiciary system. Official complaint has been lodged at Batticaloa Police Station and the internal inquiry on this still birth is started as the parents are dissatisfied. While extending our deepest sympathies to the parents and family, we believe providing some additional data on still birth will allay the fear anxiety of the general public.

According to the statistics produced by Family Health Bureau of Health Ministry, 1700 still births are reported annually in Srilanka and the reason for over 35 percent of cases are unknown. Congenital diseases are one of the common reasons for many deaths. In addition, National Still Birth Rate for 2018 is 6.1 (per 1000 births) and the Provincial Teaching Hospital Batticaloa has a Still Birth Rate of 5.98 (per 1000 births) in 2018.

Hence, we urge the public not to be diverted by these twisted fabricated propaganda by some individuals with hidden agenda and, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital and it’s staff are dedicated to provide quality healthcare with humanity.

Further, we are grateful to our honourable Mayor of Batticaloa Municipal Council, Officers from Batticaloa Police Headquarters, and the Journalists who behaved with media ethics and social responsibility together with the District Media Officer from District Secretariat, for helping us during the hour of need to handle this difficult situation.
